A dredger vessel is a complete floating plant. A centrifugal sand pump lifts riverbed material through a suction pipe, a grizzly rejects oversize, and an onboard trommel or sand screw washes and classifies the rest before it is stacked on a barge or pumped to the bank. Used for construction sand, lake and river aggregate, and shallow-water placer gold where the deposit sits under water.
